In exercise of powers conferred upon the council by the Institute council, these rules are hereby made enforced where applicable. Carefully study them and comply with whatever you are asked to do. Please sign the document to indicate that you will abide by all rules.

  1. The following rules shall apply to all student members of the Institute.
  • Fees: Payment of tuition fees is obligatory and is done at the beginning of or before each semester respectively. There shall be no refund whatsoever except where prior permission has been granted by the Director/Principal for such request to be considered, an application MUST have been lodged four weeks in advance at the beginning of the semester.
  • Refunds: At no any time we shall refund fees which had/has or have/shall or will have been paid.
  • Payments in instalments shall be made in the following criteria:
  • Full fees or at least 50% when being admitted.
  • 25% of the balance on the second month.
  • 25% of the balance on the third month before final examinations.
  • Nothing in these rules shall exclude the enforcement of laws of Kenya against any student and application of existing rules and regulations or such rules and regulations as may be made from time to time pertaining to library and other Departments of the Institute for the guidance of student in respective place
  • Where conduct is not specifically governed by the Institute, all members of the Institute shall Act at all times with courtesy and consideration to others and with regard to the good name of the Institute.

    • WeekendIn these Rule, “student members of the Institute” includes all students who have registered for course of study or Research at the Institute.INSTITUTE PROPERTY
      1. No mis-using lecture rooms, library, hostels and Institute properties.
      1. Every student shall exercise the highest standard of caution when handling the Institute property so as to avoid possible damage.

      This includes:

      1. Wall.
      2. White boards and markers
      3.  Computers
      4. Washrooms

      N.B: Penalties is to replace/buy another property/item(s) where applicable.

      • No Institute property of any description shall be taken from its proper place without the written consent of the head(s) concerned.

      CORRESPONDENCE

      1. All official correspondence shall be channelled through the Institute administration or management as the case may be.
      1. No student or group of students shall with ill intent, print, publish and disseminate or otherwise circulate any false or fabricated information

      ATTENDENCE OF LECTURES AND TUTORIALS

      1. Attendance of lectures, tutorials seminars examinations, tests and such scheduled courses of instruction are compulsory. Non-attendance due to illness or other good cause must be authorized by the principal or academic registrar.\
      1. Tests 15%
      2. Course work 15% academics
      3. Exams 70%
      4. Attendance 80%
      5. Presentation 20% regularity

      CONSUMPTION OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

      1. Any student who will be found taking alcohol/ drugs within the Institute/hostel vicinity/ environment shall be guilty of an offence. No student shall take any intoxicating drug unless such consumption has been prescribed by a recognized medical officer.

      INSURBORDINATION TO INSTITUTE AUTHORITY

      1. Any student who disobeys or obstructs or interferes with any Institute officer shall be guilty of an offence and penalty shall be (suspended or expelled) upon decision made by disciplinary committee unless otherwise.

      CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE BREACH OF PEACE

      1. Any student who uses any offensive language or indulges in any behaviour towards any member of the Institute or the public in an offensive manner likely to cause a breach of calm/peace within the Institute and its environment shall be guilty of an offence. No student shall utter words in a manner which may damage the good name and image of the Institute.

      NOTICE BOARDS

      1. Students should always look at notice boards for any information from administration and the general public.

      HOSTELS

      1. HOSTELS are available at affordable fee. It includes accommodation and meals.

      IDENTITY CARD

      1. Each student must have an identity card obtained from the academic registrar.

      Any member who loses his /her identity card must report to the academic Registrar or principal or the police. A new card may be issued by the academic registrar after the appropriate charge has been paid. There shall be Institute disciplinary committee composed of the following members:

      • The principal as chairman
      • The academic registrar
      • Two head of departments
      • Four student representatives.

      N.B

      1. The Institute Disciplinary committee has powers to do any or several of the following:
      2. Dismiss the case against the student.
      3. Reprimand the student.
      4. Demand apology from the student.
      5. Fine the student at any one occasion.
      6. Ask the student to pay for the cost or part of the cost of the damaged or lost property.
      7. Suspend the student for a specified period
      8. Recommend that the student be dismissed.
      9. Any other punishment that the committee may think necessary.
      1. The committee’s decision shall be communicated to the students in writing within seven days of the day of conclusion of the hearing.
      2. The decision of the committee shall undergo normal circumstances and will be final. A student may however appeal.
      3. The appeal shall be made within fourteen days from the date of the letter communicating the decision to him/her.

      DRESS CODE

      It should reflect your personal appearance thus wearing decently for lectures is compulsory. You must look smart from head downwards. Cleanliness should be part of your duty in and at the Institute and its environment.
